1. c4 e6 2. Nc3 d5 3. cxd5 exd5 4. d4 c5 5. Be3 cxd4 $6 { Inaccuracy. Best was c5c4. }
{Ok I have seen the pawn pushed to c3 in master games, why? I thought it was good to take the d pawn since they cannot recapture with another pawn? Also b3 and d3 do not seem like critical squares to conrol.}
6. Bxd4 Nc6 7. Nf3 Nxd4 8. Nxd4 Nf6 9. e3 Be7 10. Bd3 Bg4 11. Nde2 $6 { Inaccuracy. Best was d1b3. } 11... O-O 12. h3 Bd7 13. O-O Qb6 14. b3 $2 { Mistake. Best was d1b3. } 14... Rac8 15. Rc1 Be6 $6 { Inaccuracy. Best was e7a3. }
{Stockfish says this is an inaccuracy, and recommends Ba3 which I had considered. I played this move for several reasons. The bishop seemed vulnerable to tactics being only protected by the Knight on f6. I had plans of moving a rook to d8 did not want the bishop blocking the rook. It also further protected the d pawn which was only defended by the knight at that point. Ba3 and then Rc2 and I feel I would have lost a tempo, the bishop would be poorly placed and White would have a chance to double heavy pieces on the only open file. So why does the coputer recomend it?}
16. Nd4 Bb4 17. Nxe6 Qxe6 $6 { Inaccuracy. Best was f7e6. }
{inaccuracy I know. My reasoning was that I did not want to move a light squared pawn around my King while my opponent still had their light squared bishop. In retrospect I still would have had a firm grasp on the light squares. The rook would be putting preasure on his King. My move also left my bishop hanging.}
18. Nb1 $6 { Inaccuracy. Best was c3b5. } 18... Rfd8 19. Rxc8 Qxc8 20. a3 Ba5 21. b4 Bb6 22. Nd2 a6 23. Nb3 Ne4 24. Qf3 Qe6 25. Nd4 $2 { Mistake. Best was f1c1. } 25... Qe5 $2 { Mistake. Best was b6d4. }
{Should have exchanged my bishop for the knight. The knight was a much stronger piece at the time. Was blinded by dreams of checkmating on h2}
26. Qg4 $6 { Inaccuracy. Best was f1d1. } 26... Bc7 $2 { Mistake. Best was b6d4. } 27. Nf3 Qc3 $2 { Mistake. Best was e5e7. }
{Did not think this through, should have lost a pawn. Was frustrated by my opponents defense, thought I was forking his bishop and pawn. They could, and the computer recommends grabbing the pawn on b7. Worse it gets my Queen out of the action when my opponents pieces are coordinated around my King.}
28. Bxe4 dxe4 29. Qxe4 Qxa3 30. Ng5 $6 { Inaccuracy. Best was e4b7. } 30... g6 $4 { Blunder. Best was a3d3. }
{Totally missed Qd3. Game over}
31. Qe7 Qc3 $4 { Checkmate is now unavoidable. Best was d8f8. } 32. Qxf7+ Kh8 33. Ne6 1-0
